Cottage Garden Project, Padanaram, MA
The program required the complete rehabilitation of a neglected and partially abandoned site. While inspired by English garden prototypes, the design recognizes the simple and vernacular qualities of the late 19th century worker’s cottage. Perennial borders, shrubbery and ornamental features evocative of gardens created by William Robinson and Gertrude Jekyll are currently being installed. Sunlight, shade, color, texture and natural materials are essential elements to create the sense of place.
